Since 1965, the Miller family has built multi-generational expertise across the diamond and jewellery industry, with experience spanning rough stones, cutting, polishing, grading, valuing, fine jewellery, gold, wholesale, retail and final sale. Helping pioneer the industry in Australia, the Miller family introduced the country’s first GIA-certified diamond offerings in the late 1990s.
Our experience extends across major international diamond and jewellery markets, including Australia, Antwerp, Ramat Gan, Mumbai, Johannesburg and Hong Kong, providing a practical understanding of both the technical qualities of a piece and the commercial realities that shape its value.

Selling your Jewellery with Miller Hirsch
1
STEP 1 of 5
Book an appointment
(minimum of 5 items)
Book your in-office appointment with our Master Jewellers to appraise your items for sale. Booking in a scheduled appointment with us ensures we can prioritise your privacy as well as give your valuable items the careful attention and respect they require. In order to achieve this, we ask that our appraisal appointments are reserved for those selling 5 or more pieces.
2
STEP 2 of 5
Professional assessment by Miller Hirsch
We invite you to witness your items being assessed piece by piece. We prioritise absolute transparency during the assessment process and ensure you never lose sight of your valuables at any point of the process.

3
STEP 3 of 5
Metal assessment and weighing
Each piece is evaluated, drawing on our 60+ years of combined expertise in precious metals.
Gold is tested using our Thermo Scientific Niton XL2100 XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) analyser, which determines the precise carat purity of the gold out of 24 parts, along with every other metal present. The process is completely non-destructive and delivers an accurate result on the spot.
Once craftsmanship and metal purity have all been established, the piece is weighed.

4
STEP 4 of 5
Diamond/Gem assessment and weighing
Diamonds are screened using our GIA iD100, a professional fluorescence spectrometer developed by the Gemological Institute of America. It analyses each stone's internal structure to determine definitively whether it is a natural diamond, a laboratory-grown diamond, or a simulant - delivering a result in under two seconds. Each gem is assessed by the internationally recognised 4C grading standards; cut, colour, clarity, and carat.
Where an initial screening flags a stone for further review, our JTR Reveal Diamond Detector 2S independently validates the result. Approved by the Natural Diamond Council's ASSURE 2.0 programme, it analyses each stone's fluorescence and phosphorescence response under UV light to confirm the finding with complete certainty.
Once craftsmanship and stone origin have all been established, the piece is weighed. We assess cut, clarity, and design so you get pricing based on real demand, not rough estimates.

5
STEP 5 of 5
Offer made, payment made instantly.
With the metal and diamond/gems now accurately analysed, every factor is combined to produce a precise, transparent appraisal and offer price maximised by the accuracy of our valuation process and experience.
If you wish to proceed with the sale, a statutory one-pager is completed by the client as well as ID verification. Payment is then instantly transferred into your chosen bank account where you can verify receipt of funds.
